Functional training and Power training are often seen as polar opposites. In reality they go hand in hand if you want to create powerful, efficient, injury resistant athletes. In this episode we dive into the different concepts and philosophies behind these 2 modes of training. Function is moving freely without compensation. Power is strength and speed put together! The problem is you can can mask dysfunction with speed which leads to injury and poor performance.
Power training is fun, functional training isn’t but if you expose the athlete’s limitations and it is hard work! I feel I can get better results and higher power outputs working on the athlete’s weakness compared to adding power to their strengths!
