Lets start with your nutrition. You can eat all the right things, at the right time of day, and at the right quantity and it can all be for not if your gut health isn’t optimized. Brandon Marcello shared in my interview with him on #CoachGlassPodcast Ep117 this week that getting your gut flora healthy can be the difference between weight loss and weight gain, personal best performance or failure to launch! You can have identical twins on identical diets and one will flourish and successfully change their body composition while the other will struggle with cravings and a rollercoaster ride on the scale. The difference? Their gut health. There are healthy and unhealthy bacteria in the gut. The bacteria war is won and lost by the fuel you put in the system. You can think of the food you put in your mouth as feeding the rebel army or the terrorists. It all goes down the same pipe but one side prefers certain food while the opposition prefers other foods. Most of you don’t even know there is a war going on until you wake up one morning and see that the wrong side has won! So how can we determine your gut health? Get it checked! I did it the hard way and shipped a sample to Germany overnight, which cost a small fortune but the results were well worth it. Brandon Marcello recommends you go with American Gut Project @americangut who will analyze your stool and send you a report. From there you will need to supplement your diet with foods that promote positive gut bacteria based on the findings. The crazy thing about gut bacteria is it will actually dictate your cravings. If you feed yourself with simple sugars and carbs for instance, bacteria that like simple carbs and sugars will flourish. The bacteria will then send signals to your brain saying “ Hey! its the simple carb bacteria again. Can you send down another doughnut?” Crazy!
